How are the IJP organised?
The International Journalists' Programmes (IJP) are a non-profit and economically as well as politically independent organisation for the promotion of young journalists. The IJP are an association, registered in Germany, with seat in Koenigstein near Frankfurt/Main.
The IJP are organised decentrally and have no administration. All programmes are organised honorary by the members of the IJP, who themselves work as journalists or for media enterprises. The responsibility for the individual programmes or programme areas rests with the respective coordinators, who belong to the executive committee of the IJP. The executive committee is selected by the meeting of the members and organises the business of the association.

The advisory board of the IJP consists of former executive committee speakers of the association. Advisers can likewise lead one of the IJP programmes. Additionally they have an advisory function.
The Board of the IJP supports the work of the association, advises and accompanies the work of the executive committee and controls the annual auditors' report. The Board consists of members of the parliamentary groups represented in the Bundestag, representatives of the most important sponsors and partners of the IJP and personalities of political public life and media in Germany.

In addition, a board in the USA supports the work of the Arthur F. Burns Fellowship Programme.
The individual programmes of the IJP are financed by public means and private donations. Conferences and fact finding trips may also partly be financed through participation fees.
The IJP receive special support through the press office of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Foreign Office in Berlin as well as a small circle of private main sponsors, who have been continuously supporting the programmes of the association for some years.
Beyond that, the IJP cooperate closely with other non-profit institutions as for example the International Center for Journalists in Washington, the German British Forum in London and the Goethe-Institutes in Latin America.
Through regular dispatches the IJP (mainly in Germany) inform approximately 2,000 interested journalists (associated) about its current programmes. Beyond that IJP advertise all programmes in relevant media magazines in Germany and - depending upon the programme - abroad.
