By mid-October a group of alumni of the IJP-Krupp-Foundation China Program met at the wonderful location of Villa Hügel in Essen. The Alfried Krupp von Bohlen und Halbach-Stiftung was celebrating the 30th anniversary of their science exchange program and welcomed our group of journalist alumni to join them. We enjoyed a lovely lunch, workshops and a panel discussion, led by alumnus Markus Rimmele who had been ARD Correspondent to China for seven years after his IJP fellowship in 2006. Joyce Man, also alumna, contributed to the discussion about contemporary China-Hong Kong relations. Cao Haili as well as Xie Ding flew in from Beijing to enrich the group with insights on current affairs and to refresh long standing relations with German alumni.
